We are always looking for new ways to encourage our students to develop a love of reading. FRES/LCS PTO holds a Readathon at each of our schools (FRES in the fall and LCS in the Spring). Students receive pledges or donations from family and friends to encourage them to read as much as possible during the event, which lasts two weeks. Students are rewarded for reading and fundraising, and we always top it off with a fun event. Principal O’Connell and Superintendent Lane are always willing to make the kids laugh with their antics if it rewards reading! This event precedes the Book Fair at each school, and part of the proceeds go toward giving each student vouchers to spend at the fair.
We use Read-A-Thon.com for collecting donations and tracking minutes spent reading online. We also send home print donation and reading trackers at the Read-A-Thon kickoff for those families who wish to participate without an online fundraising page.
This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and one of the most enjoyable! We hope you enjoy reading with your child!
