March/April Update

Summer is in view, and it’s one of the busiest times of the year at FRES and LCS! Join us for a variety of fun events on the horizon. We also will be providing support for students during state testing weeks (in the form of popcorn snacks), thanking our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, and more!

New Collaborations

FRES/LCS PTO is excited to welcome some new collaborations with other community groups in our district. We enjoyed learning more about the Wilton Community Center and Souhegan Sustainability Fair from Sandy LaFleur during our April meeting. The WCC provided the wonderful potluck during our Drumming Event with Theo Martey in March. They look forward to more fun collaborations in the future. The Souhegan Sustainability Fair is a family-friendly event and will be held May 4 at WLC. See you there!

Upcoming WCC event with Wilton/Lyndeborough Police

At our March meeting, Tiffany Cloutier-Cabral invited PTO members to help in organizing the annual Spring Fling hosted by the WLC Coop Connection. This year’s event will be a “backyard barbecue” held May 17 at WLC. If you would like to lead a field event or help out at a fundraising booth for PTO or the Coop Connection, simply contact us for more information.

Parent Education & Support

Monica Gallant (standing) poses with a parent at our April PTO meeting.

In April, we heard from Amber Casavant, the director of the Sau63 RISE program. RISE is a program for students with Autism in our district. A specialized program of this kind is rare in districts of our size, and RISE is a tremendous asset to our district. The complete packet of information from her presentation can be found here.

We were fortunate to have Monica Gallant, of the C.A.S.T. program present to us at the March meeting. CAST provides parenting workshops and teen-focused events to encourage healthy choices among teens across the area. CAST is always looking for more community involvement, so please contact them to volunteer your time or skills to support this great organization.
