Our fall events are wrapping up and we are starting to prepare for our last events of 2018.
We finished October with Halloween fun and barreled right into the Book Fair the first week of November. We have more fun planned for December!
We had a lot of fun listening to spooky stories with Simon Brooks on Halloween. He had kids laughing and jumping with his stories. We’ve heard great reviews from students and staff alike, and we hope to bring him back again.
Chorus at the Monarchs
Students proudly wore their FRES Chorus t-shirts as they sung the National Anthem at the Monarchs hockey game in November. The PTO was glad to be able to support the chorus by purchasing the shirts for chorus students.
Fourth graders enjoyed learning about the human body, hygiene, and wellness with the Fit Kids of NH program. Students made their own model lungs, discovered just how long human intestines are, and much more. The PTO is proud to sponsor this high-quality learning program every year.
Read-A-Thon & Book Fair
Let’s start with Big Thanks to all of you who supported our Read-A-Thon and Book Fair events. We raised almost $3000 during the Read-A-Thon thanks to your generous sponsors and the hard work our kids did reading every day. They met the goal of reading 50,000 minutes during the Read-A-Thon and that meant Mr. O’Connell kissed a frog!
We had a very successful Book Fair, and we hope all of the students enjoyed the $10 voucher for books we were able to provide via Read-A-Thon funds. We bought more than 300 books for students to take home and 150 books for classroom libraries. Thank you again for your generous support! We had so much fun making fairy houses and playing bean bag toss with students and families all day during our Grand Event. Congratulations to Rebecca Hannigan, who won our raffle basket of books and other goodies to take home.
This FRES event challenges students to collect food donations for out community while having fun. Send in canned goods starting November 13, then join the kids for a fun run around the flat (starting 9:45 am) and some hot cocoa on November 19. A fun FRES tradition!
Polar Express at Town Hall Theater
In conjunction with the Wilton Town Hall Theater, FRES/LCS PTO is hosting a free viewing of Polar Express at 2 pm on December 15 at the Wilton Town Hall Theater. We’ll be sending home Golden Tickets to all FRES and LCS students and their families, but the event is open to the public as well. Warm up with a cup of cocoa from our Hot Chocolate Bar and have a photo with our very special Guest Conductor who will be punching tickets before the movie. Don’t forget to wear your pajamas to this festive event! Doors open at 1 pm for cocoa and pictures, show starts at 2!
Keep an eye out for our annual Holiday Raffle! Tickets go home the week of Thanksgiving. Prizes this year include a TV, Video Game Systems, Weekend Away, and more. We look forward to drawing the winners during the Holiday Concert on December 18 at FRES.
Shop with us!
We have several fundraisers that allow you to turn your regular shopping into PTO donations. First, purchase a FunPass coupon book for $35 and our group keeps $12-14 as
a donation. The FunPass includes coupons for a variety of local attractions and makes a great gift for New England families, and a coupon one day on the slopes pays for the book itself! The deadline to return your orders is Friday, November 16. Please contact us if you need a new order form.
By now Kindergarten parents have seen custom catalogs come home for our Square1 fundraiser. Enjoy your child’s artwork on a variety of home and decor objects. This is another great way to purchase gifts for family and friends while helping to support the PTO at the same time. Profits from this fundraiser benefit LCS enrichment programs. We ask that you return your paper orders to school no later than Monday, November 19. We have to ship them out immediately if we want to receive products before the December school vacation, so don’t delay! Online ordering remains open a few extra days. Contact us if you need new paperwork or if you lost your child’s access code.
Our Yankee Candle online store remains open through January 10. If you buy candles for the holidays, this is a great way to get good deals and help the school at the same time. Enter code 999984825 on the website to access the FRES/LCS store.
Boxtops for Education are an ongoing fundraiser for our music programs. Don’t forget to send in your box tops before they expire!
Thank you to everyone who helped and donated during our Read-A-Thon and Book Fair. Special thanks to Melissa Geary, Malissa Knight, Kelly Gibson, and Chance Joyner of the Wilton Library for their help during the Book Fair. Thanks also go out to Stephanie Caragher for organizing our Fun Pass fundraiser and Mr. Lamers for taking class time to create artwork for the Square 1 fundraiser with our kindergartners. Big Thanks also go out to Gary’s Harvest Restaurant that hosted our “Dine to Donate” event on October 31.
There will be no December PTO meeting. Our next meeting is January 7.
