This year we are taking our inspiration from some of our favorite children’s books and incorporating some creative new games into our day. We’ll also feature all of your favorites like popcorn, tug-of-war, Teacher’s Revenge, and more. Scroll down for a look at some of our stations and sign up using the link at the bottom.
Pippi Longstocking Obstacle Course
Pippi is famous for taking her friends on some wild adventures like tying scrub brushes to their shoes to wash the floor and carrying her horse everywhere she goes. We’ll wrap it all into a fun obstacle course on the FRES Flat.
Mrs. Trunchbull’s Teacher’s Revenge
Help a class full of little Matildas escape the water-squirting madness of Mrs. Trunchbull’s wicked teachers, or join the mean team and help teachers squirt the kids!
Tug of War & Fire/Police/EMT
Explore fire trucks and put out the “fire,” meet your local first responders, and join a team in our matchups…Fire vs. Police, Students vs. Fire, etc. Good old tug-of-war fun with our favorite local heroes.
Mini-matches of Horse, Knockout, Around the World, and more will be running at our Basketball Hub. Help organize games and have fun playing games on the hard top. Inspired by Kwame Alexander’s award-winning basketball novel The Crossover.
Thanks to Amanda Barrick of Ducks in a Row Yoga right here in Wilton, students will have the opportunity to take a mindful moment to learn some calming skills before they head home for the summer! Mandy makes mindfulness fun and active for kids (and adults!) of all types and interests. Namaste!
We’ll have all your favorites like popcorn and tattoos/buttons, plus some more book-inspired fun including: the Magic School Bus Messy Science Center, Pirate O’Connell’s Walk-the-Plank Water Slide, and Fly Guy Fly Swatter Field Hockey.
And just in case you’re inspired to pick up one of the books that we celebrate this year, we’ll have a buy-one-get-one-free book fair set up in the gym. Come by, check out some of our featured books, and pick something up for Summer Reading. All of the books we highlight will also be available at the Wilton Public library all summer long.
Sign up here, or contact us to get involved! We’ll need help prepping the obstacle course, testing some of the messy science, and more, so drop us a note if you’d like to help out.
