Readathon & Book Fair Run Down

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the families and individuals who donated, baked, shopped, volunteered and generally celebrated reading during our big fall fundraising events. During our Read-A-Thon and Book Fair events, you raised almost $5000 cash in sales and donations that we can use to fund field trips, guest speakers, and enrichment activities for the students at FRES and LCS. During our coin drive you raised an additional $1190.22 to buy books for classroom teachers and the library at FRES. As a community, we bought almost 500 books during the Book Fair, including family purchases, classroom donations, and PTO-sponsored book vouchers for students.

Most importantly, we had a ton of fun getting together as a community to celebrate and encourage student reading. And of course, that kicked off when we taped Mr. O to the wall:

He escaped long enough to read stories to an attentive audience:

We had even more fun spraying Superintendent Lane with silly string!

There were snacks, sweets, AND we all got to pick FREE books from the book fair and enjoy more stories with our favorite librarians on Saturday:

Lastly, we are all looking forward to spring, when have a whole new Book Fair at LCS!
